The Zuidlaardermeer is located in the district of Meerwijck (between Hoogezand and Zuidlaren just 15 km from the hotel) and is the largest lake in Drenthe with an area of no less than 671 hectares. It is a very bird-rich area with a unique tidal marsh (Leinwijk) and pieces of grassland with many meadow birds. At / in the lake is much to do: sunbathing (beautiful sandy beach), swimming, windsurfing, hiking, cycling, bird watching and boating. You will find playground equipment, catering facilities, toilets and showers. There is also ample parking and the grounds are cleaned regularly.

Lovers of water sports need look no further. At the Zuidlaardermeer there is plenty of opportunity for swimming, fishing, sailing and windsurfing. With a depth of 1.50m and over 2 meters in the channel, it is one of the best navigable lakes in the northern Netherlands. No boat of your own and still want to go on the lake? No problem. At several places on the lake you can rent a rowing, sailing or motorboat. Or get on a tour boat, it's all possible, feast your eyes!
